URS Performers Initiative Sparks Change at Excel High School Kawawu

 LIFE CHANGING SESSIONS AT EXCEL HIGH SCHOOL 😄.

Last week, the URS Performers Initiative brought energy, honesty, and hope to Excel High School Kawawu for a powerful mentorship session themed “It’s Time to Reduce High Speed” a call for young people to slow down, think deeper, and build lives rooted in purpose.

Over 400 students took part in the engagement, and the impact was immediate.

1. Closing Academic Gaps, Setting Real Ambitions  

We started by helping learners pinpoint where they were struggling academically and then guided them to set clear, achievable ambitions. The goal: move from just “going to school” to moving with direction.

2. Rebuilding Self-Worth on 5 Core Values  

A big part of the session focused on self-value. Students were challenged to select and prioritize five key values for life:  

Transparency, Accountability, Honesty, Respect, and Compassion. 

The message was simple: character will carry you further than speed. Living by these values shapes how you treat others and how you see yourself.

3. The Saving Mindset 

We trained learners to adopt a saving attitude early. Pocket money isn’t for everyone, but even those who receive it can build a future if they use it wisely. Small, consistent saving habits now lay the foundation for a stable life later.

4. Socializing with Intention  

Life looks different for everyone at the desk next to you. Students were encouraged to socialize with understanding – to see classmates not as competition, but as people with their own stories. Empathy, we stressed, is part of growth.

5. Health Education: Staying Safe During the Ebola Outbreak

With the current Ebola outbreak in mind, we gave a brief but critical lesson on IPCS – Infection Prevention and Control Standards. Key takeaways for the students:  

- No handshakes  

- Frequent handwashing  

- Maintain social distance  

We also highlighted transmission risks like touching infected clothes or stepping in the vomit of a suspected case.  

By the end of the day, students weren’t just informed  they were shifted. The session left learners thinking differently about ambition, values, money, relationships, and health.

It was more than a talk. It was a life-changing reset.  

URS Performers Initiative continues to equip young people with the mindset and tools to lead responsibly, live intentionally, and protect their future.

      In a crowded hall filled with the vibrant red and blue uniforms of  Zana Mixed Secondary School , a powerful silence fell as we spoke on a truth often ignored in the rush of youth: you cannot follow every path and expect to reach a destination. The  URS Performers Initiative  brought a message of radical focus to these learners, centered on the life-altering theme,  "Know Your Worth."       Knowing your worth starts with the discipline of  prioritization .  MIND SET DEVELOPMENT AT BULAMU SEED SECONDARY SCHOOL 2026 Our next stop took us to Bulamu Seed Secondary School in Bulamu Village, where we spent the day mentoring learners on something just as important as academics: how to manage their minds and navigate life. 1.
